Welcome to The Talking Tiger

I have been trying to accomplish my ambition of producing a newspaper, and that has come to life with the help from all of you. For the past two successful editions, we have created a vivid and exciting newspaper that allows anyone to share their thoughts as they experience the hardships and joy of Middle School.

However, this unprecedented and sudden disease knocked the whole world off its feet, causing many buildings to shut down, including LWA. We have been in online classes for about three weeks, and all clubs have been excluded from the altered schedule. There are no more morning announcements and no more community meetings. Hence, there was a significant lack of contact and communication. For the first two weeks, I pondered whether anyone would ever again be interested in writing an article for the paper. Finally, utter determination set in when I learned that school would not be open until after spring break, at the least. I reasoned that the dangerous coronavirus can shut down LWA for the rest of the year, but it cannot ever suffocate the freedom of the press! So with my heart burning with hope, I announced to the Middle School that there will be an Edition 3 of The Talking Tiger. Afterwards, I felt anxious and slightly foolish. Will anyone heed my announcement? Will this edition be nothing but a flop? To my surprise and delight, Ms. R immediately responded that it was a fantastic idea! Feeling pure elation, I created a schedule and made arrangements for extra credit to be given out to those who submit an article. Then, as if things couldn’t get any better, Nate Schwartz came up with a genius idea. Now will be the perfect time to create a website! I agreed wholeheartedly and thus began the the building of the website. I am filled with awe and wonder that this sensational newspaper started out with a hopeful and ambitious girl and is now a posted PDF and a website anyone can access!

Of course, this beautiful example of a perfect piece of literature couldn’t have happened without some very important people. First of all, thank you to all of those who took the initiative and wrote an article! Without your work, there would have never been a paper in the first place.  I would like to thank Ms. R, Mrs. Orlep, and Ms. Halperin for helping me create an effective and helpful incentive to boost overall writing spirit. I would also like to appreciate Ms. R for editing all the articles and taking her time to check them. I would like to express my gratitude to Ms. Propper for helping to organize these articles and converting them into a PDF. Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Schwartz for helping The Talking Tiger achieve this great milestone. Without him, this newspaper would have never been an online triumph.

Times may be tough, but we are tougher! I understand that this is a perilous and dangerous world at the moment, and one may be very anxious as the T.V spits out devastating news. There is still hope, and with a little bit of resilience, the rainbow at the end of the storm will appear to be clearer and clearer. I am hoping that this edition will shed some much needed light on this bleak and grim situation. Enjoy the third edition of The Talking Tiger!
